‘J’avais Dessiné Sur Le Salle’ (Stage 8) Mixed Media 12-25 October (2011) StevieRay Latham, thoughts on collaboration with members of BA(Hons) Fine Art course Middlesex, London.

“Inspiration for this quasi-nihilistic piece came from Tom Sawyer and The Rolling Stones. My ideas were to create a piece of work that was black and layered, looking at surface and texture. In the process, the work became a collaboration with many other people as the piece extended and incorporated space and time of other artists and artworks, bringing in more people and covering more space and in the process making the surface simpler and the visual elements less. Conceptually the piece became an amalgamation of different individuals thoughts and therefore meant less and became conceptually open and free, a liberating void, a photo negative of life that was interesting in the way that it played with the light. After all, it is just Black”
